W.Y.S.E

What is WYSE?

WYSE (Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering) is an international program formerly hosted by the University of Illinois until Eastern Illinois University took over this past year. This challenge is focused on attracting talented students into the fields of science and engineering. Test material is drawn from upper level high school and freshman college curricula. Teams compete in the following categories:

  • Biology

  • Chemistry

  • Computer Science

  • English

  • Mathematics

  • Physics

How does it work?

Students will sign up and will “try out” by taking previous year’s exams in the categories of their choosing. This will take place after school in my (Ms Arceneaux’s) room at a date TBD. Students chosen will practice regularly so they will be prepared for the competitions at the beginning of February. Students start at regionals (LLCC) and may advance as a team or individually to sectionals (TBD).

Individuals that are interested should sign up in the office. The deadline to sign up is December 1st
